Cabernet Sauvignon - A Stellenbosch Royal
by Les Sweidan on Aug 17, 2023
Cabernet Sauvignon is fondly known as the King of Grapes and is internationally admired for producing preeminent wines. No wonder then that this much-loved grape has a special day dedicated to it every year: 30 August.
If Cabernet is King, then Stellenbosch is certainly its Kingdom in South Africa!
This noble grape is fundamental in crafting ALL our award-winning wines. The grapes are sourced from the deep gravelly slopes of the Helderberg in Stellenbosch. These soils are perfectly suited for limiting vegetative vigour and channeling the vine’s water and nutrient resources towards the development of small, concentrated berries. Our long, warm summer days and cool maritime breezes allow for slow phenolic ripening of the berries - ensuring intense flavour and ripe silky tannins.
